About Dennis Devino

AIA (Principal)

Dennis is a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology (School of Architecture) with a second major in Construction Management class of 1980.  He obtained his New Jersey Architectural license in 1984 and professional Planner’s license in 1985.  He is also licensed in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia.  He is NCARB certified and certified with NASHP (The National Association of Safety and Health Professionals).  He has also been an elected official (Councilman) in his hometown of Aberdeen NJ from 1993 – 1997, served on the Aberdeen Planning Board from 1990- 1993 as well as on the Hoboken Historic Commission from 2003 – 2007.   As a licensed architect and city councilman he introduced and ignited the first redevelopment plan in Aberdeen known as the “Aberdeen Transit Hub”.   

Dennis began his professional carrier as a construction project manager with the nationally recognized firm of CUH2A in Princeton, NJ where he managed the Contract Administration Phase of The New Dormitory, The Natatorium and Phelps Hall for Trenton State College (aka The State College of NJ) as well as the construction of the Princeton Plasma Data Center for Princeton University’s Tocomac Reactor, the first fusion reactor research center in the country.  

In 1987 he partnered with an Atlantic City firm becoming the in-house architects for Bally’s Grand Casino with designs ranging from the Boardwalk stage design for Bally’s grand opening with Frank Sinatra and The Pedestrian Bridge and Skywalk connecting the parking garage to the casino.  In 1990 he created the installation document for the first “Holec” UPS system in the country.  This rotary uninterrupted power supply was installed and successfully serves the Hershey Corporation in Harrisburg, PA.  

Dennis has held VP position at the New York office of A. Epstein & Sons based out of Chicago, where he headed the Contract Administration at the School Construction Administration (SCA) for the rehab of IS125 in Queens and PS56 in Brooklyn as well collaborating on the design and construction of a 30,000-sf build-out for the Canadian Consulate at Rockefeller Centre.  From 2003 – 2007 he was VP of Design and Construction with Toll Brother’s, “City Living Division”, in Hoboken where he teamed up with the Toll organization on the acclaimed  “Maxwell Project” and “The Tea Building” PUD in Hoboken and the 12 story, 246 condominium units known as 700 Grove” in Jersey City.

From 1996 – 2003 he started up and was the Architect of Record for “The Park Avenue Design Group” and partnered with The Manhattan Building Company in Hoboken to develop several of the Hudson County’s highly acclaim projects.

From 2008-2020, he has been the sole proprietor and Principal of Devino Architects & Associates.  As President and Principal Architect, he has successfully orchestrated the design and administered construction contracts for over 100 successful projects throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. In January of 2021, Dennis partnered with a former colleague and Urban Design Workshop to create a new entity of Devino Aiello Architects. 

In addition to the countless successful projects, he has governed the process on several urban planning projects as well as the amendment of “The Morris Canal Redevelopment Plan”, The Journal Square Redevelopment Plan and the total urban planning of the newly established “Danforth Avenue Transit Village Redevelopment Plan” in Jersey City. 

In his 39 years as a licensed professional his broad experience has covered the gamut in the field of architecture and construction.  In January of 2021, Dennis teamed up with Antonio Aiello and started the firm Devino Aiello Architects. They currently lead the staff of eight highly qualified architects and staffers to manage the present list of projects of veering scope.
