Sugar House

JERSEY CITY, NJ

Adaptive-Reuse Residential

Originally a sugar warehouse for the Colgate Company, this 1887 brick and steel structure was converted into 64 high end water view condominiums. Two and a half stories were added to this turn-of-the-century building to create one of Jersey City's most desirable living spaces. When the original ten-foot-high vaulted ceilings were restored, hardwood floors added throughout with full tumbled marble master bath, it slated "The Sugarhouse" as Jersey City's first million-dollar condo product. The project helped ignite the comeback of the desired urban lifestyle with its five luxury floors, 67 below grade parking spaces, 2,500 sf fitness center, a 25,000-sf common area rear garden roof terrace and the re-introduction of the now popular French balcony.
