A modern addition to an historic park. This new pavilion was designed to accommodate the people that frequent the park as well as create an event space for the public and public officials to use for special events. The building was designed with horizontality in mind to counter the verticalness of the surrounding trees. This new structure has a large open event space on the ground floor with operable accordion doors that open the entire space to the outdoors with fluidity in the movements of the people that will request it as well as the crosswinds that can run through the space when open. The building also boasts a large rooftop deck  that accommodates additional event area and a large movie screen. The entire rooftop is surrounded with a cantilevered rain garden that will help minimize water runoff but also create a beautiful space to be surrounded by.
