Hudson Hall

JERSEY CITY, NJ

Restaurant / Retrofit

Existing defunct masonry buildings that were renovated and retrofitted into a single, large restaurant and bar. Excavating and underpinning was provided to create a useable basement with storage and prep area. The interior makes use of the high ceilings in the one space to create a large hall with seating and a large custom bar. Lighting and paint finishes were added to accentuate the existing beams and trusses. The corner space was designed to house a smaller more intimate bar area with a domed, tiled ceiling. The exterior was maintained in large part due to the contextual Influence of the surrounding area that once was home to the local industrial zone. It was slightly modified with large custom steel canopies and operable openings and storefronts that wrap the building facade while maintaining the fabric of the industrial zone this district once encompassed.
